  • Black Sheep InvoicesDecember 21, 2007
Filed under: Black Sheep Software, Software @ 12:30 am

Well, I finally got round to finishing of a little script I wrote for a client earlier this year. It’s a simple, lightweight invoice script which allows a fair degree of customization for your company. Naturally, I don’t brand any of the invoices, so you may brand is as being from your own company.

You can learn more about the script here, including a 24 hour online demo if you’re curious to test it out.
Like my other scripts, it’s available for download and use under the GNU public license. But this time I thought I’d offer a free service to non-profit organizations who may store their invoice information and generating their PDFs directly on the Black Sheep Web Software site. There’s information on the site on how to apply for a free account.
Here’s a list of some of the features:

    • Simple to use. Quickly generates clear, attractive invoices
    • Printer-friendly and PDF view/print/download of all invoices
    • Entirely brandable to your company or person (no reference to Black Sheep Software)
    • Option to upload company logo
    • Database is customizable to store whatever invoice data you need
    • Stores client information to allow you to re-invoice the same client multiple times
    • May set custom invoice numbering scheme, specify whatever invoice date you wish
    • Build in “Flagging” mechanism to let you create invoices by matching up existing items to clients
    • May customize CSS to change the appearance of the invoices and PDFs

    Form Tools + ActiveStateDecember 19, 2007

Very cool. Tara Gibbs from over at ActiveState made a few nice mods to my Form Tools app, including the option of storing sessions in a database. They were planning on running the script on a database cluster, so using standard PHP sessions wasn’t an option.

Apparently they’ll be using the script internally for sales and marketing purposes.

Thanks for sending me the mods, Tara! I’ll be including them in Form Tools 2.

The Acid2 test checks to see how a browser renders faulty HTML. If it meets the standards laid out by the W3C, it’ll display correctly. If not, it won’t.

So now they’ve overcome this hurdle, they just have to start working on rendering the VALID HTML correctly.
