The ProBono Maps of BC site was another project I worked on with Jeremy Gruman in the Fall of 2006. It was funded by funded by the Law Society of BC and the Law Foundation of British Columbia. The purpose of the site, is to provide residents of BC with a simple resource for locating probono organizations within their area in areas of legal aid, legal advice, legal assistance, self-help information and more.
Here's a screenshot of the index page. Once the search is made, the BC image is replaced with the Google Maps version, letting the user peruse all returned listings on the map itself.
The core technology behind this project was Google Maps, which was used in conjuction with a custom-built database to store the probono organization information. The backend was a standard PHP/MySQL database and the front end was primarily JavaScript and AJAX.
